Josh and April were born and raised in Alabama, where they love God's creation in the great outdoors. They married in 2006, and Josh was already a passionate outdoorsman. April quickly recognized that she needed to appreciate the same things he did to have a long-term marriage. She has become an ardent outdoorswoman, enjoying hunting and fishing as much as Josh.
April dreamed of owning a bait shop for many years, and an opportunity emerged to protect long-standing businesses in the Mt Vernon community. So, in 2022, April and Josh purchased Mt Vernon Hardware and Live Bait, and they changed the company's name to Mt Vernon Outdoors to incorporate more outdoor sports. They continued to sell hardware until July 2024, when they chose to relaunch the business as a sporting goods store. In the relaunch, they brought on Ben Sizemore and his family who also share a passion for the outdoors.
They together strive to build a community of like-minded outdoorsmen and women.
